PROJECT 3 EXERCISE 1 STILL LIFE USING LINE (DRAWING 1)

Here is an exercise where i had to draw objects still life using line.Objects that either connect naturally. ie similar in one way or another- shape, height, pattern, textures or deliberately clash.]

I have decided to do a couple of drawings here to show different aspects to using line
i done this piece on procreate using a technical pen.

Bottle of wine and 2 glasses using line , this is more defined than the vegetable one below.

Here is another drawing example of  line art . I have put  together a group of vegetables .
Onion, mushrooms, carrots parsnip . lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes. i used  6b pencil to do this piece

PROJECT 2 DETAILED OBSERVATION OF NATURAL OBJECTS..EXERCISE 1 DETAIL AND TONE

In this Exercise  i had to practice building up light , medium and dark tones, on still life objects.Using pencils and cross-hatching techniques decided to draw bottles and a jug.. Here is what i came up with below....

PROJECT 1 POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SPACE, PART 2

Here i have created another picture showing positive and negative space, with plant pot and vases. I used a charcoal type pencil and shaded in the negative space.

This is a project using positive and negative space. I have used some work by the artist Escher whom liked to play with positive and negative space. 

Here i have found online 2 examples using positive and negative space

 If you focus on the white, you see a vase as the positive space and the black surrounding it as the negative.  If you concentrate on the black, you will see two faces as the positive space (the main focus), and the white space becomes the negative space in-between or surrounding the faces.
In the second picture, the orange vase is the positive space, since it is the main focus.  The light area surrounding the vase is the negative space. In the second picture, the area which appears as positive or negative depends on where you focus.

Part 1 Project 2 Excercise 4

Here i have created the outline sketch and then the finished copy . Using HB pencil , i carefully sketched in the lines of the pot and the utensils.
I developed with light  and shade created with cross hatching shading. 
I used shading to round the utensils  and pot and showed how the light reflected on the rounded pot, by making vertical panels  of shade and light.



Here is the final piece where the shading is more stronger.

I have included the first initial sketch and the finished piece.

I picked this object because I feel it had a real still life look to it and was able to enable me to reflect on my skills i have learnt.

For this image I used different pencil leads, 

HB for the initial sketch and outlines, 2b for the heavier lines and shadows and soft 4B for the shading. 

By using different pencils I was able to gain varied results with lines and shadows.

I used cross hatching and lines to develop this image in to a cosy kitchen still life.  

I was worried about overworking the image too much as i kept going back to it but i feel i managed to get the right feel of the drawing as a whole. 

This is my final piece done for the assignment , the  shading is more heavier also the light that reflects on the objects is more stronger. I enjoyed this task a lot and it did take a while to complete.

 I am happy with the end result.

Frottage Exercise

Detailed pencil drawings using 1H pencil for clean sharp work.

This drawing focused on the lines with some shading between the ropes, cross hatching for shading on the pebbles, intense block shading to show the background of the grass and make the blades of grass stand out in white, emphasis on lines, making them thick and thin on the wooden planks.
